Climate Group Initiatives
At Chalet Hotels, we recognize the profound impact the hospitality industry can have on the environment. Guided by a vision to not only mitigate this impact but also drive positive change, we have committed ourselves to ambitious climate action initiatives. As part of our broader Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy, we have aligned our goals with global movements like RE100, EV100, and EP100 to significantly reduce our carbon footprint and promote sustainable energy use across all our properties.

Our climate strategy is built on the belief that the business of hospitality can coexist harmoniously with the natural environment. We aim to lead by example, demonstrating that operational excellence can be achieved without compromising ecological and social integrity. By embracing renewable energy, advocating for electric vehicle use, and enhancing energy productivity, we strive to set new standards in sustainable development within the industry.

We are actively advancing our technology and integrating IoT-enabled solutions like digital check-ins, mobile keys, building management systems, and IoT systems for HVAC to decrease our energy usage. In FY 2023-24, we collaborated with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to enhance our energy productivity. These initiatives accounted for 4% of our total capital expenditures for the year.

RE100-2030 (Renewable Energy): Move to 100% renewable energy by FY 2030

61% in FY 2023-24

This helps avoid our Scope 2 GHG Emissions by more than 20,000 tCO2 and decrease our grid electricity consumption, which currently stands at over 19,755.08 MWh.

EV100-2025 (Electric Vehicles): Move entire fleet to EVs for guest transportation by FY 2024

To support this commitment, we have installed EV charging points across all of our properties which are accessible to both – employees as well as guests.

The Westin Hyderabad HITEC City and Novotel Pune operate with 100% EV fleet for Guests.

EP100-2028 (Energy Productivity):  Double energy productivity (revenue per unit of electricity consumed) by FY 2028

We are progressively investing in technology and IoT-enabled solutions such as Digital check-ins, Mobile key, Building Management System, IOT system for HVAC, etc., to reduce our energy consumption.

During FY 2023-24, we invested in technologies to improve energy productivity in collaboration with International Finance Corporation (IFC). The projects contribute 4% of total CAPEX of the reporting year.
